i was crusing thru some blog and i saw your post on Lost on Translation.how could you say so?
sofia coppola to begin with is unnerving unconventional.marie antoinette soundtrack were from indie bands despite the medieval theme.and lost of translation is one of those movie that people seem to miss the point.its about life as it is lived and not conceptualized.if you read 'The Black Swan' by Nassim Nicholas Taleb,you'd understand.its about being a foreigner ,the sense of belonging or wanting to belong for that matter and definitely more than a handful of other not shopworn concepts that interweave the main theme of the story.your in this course, do try out arthouse movies.yasmin ahmad is a good start.go back to the annals of history and you would see wonders such as Satyajit Ray depicting reality and not just idealistic romances.but not without the consideration that both are possible.
